I could hear myself in your internal conversation about going to the fiber festival. I went to a spinning wheel roundup last Saturday, but almost had myself talked out of it for the same issues you have. I went. I had a blast. I got to try spinning on a wheel and learned to spin with a spindle. I have a LONG way to go but am really glad I went. Go forth and enjoy!
